why does God love us so much?

Published: August 9, 2026

Why? I can’t stop asking myself this question. Why does God love me? Why does God choose me? Why am I alive? Why doesn’t God kill me? Why?

Matthew 21:33-39

33 “Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. 34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.

35 “The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third. 36 Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way. 37 Last of all, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.

38 “But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.’ 39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.”

Every time I reflect on this parable my eyes slowly fill with tears, and I continue to ask the same questions with rage filled in my heart. I am the reason the son had to come and be killed yet God sent him willingly and let him come and be killed by my actions. If my son was killed by some evil people, the last thing I would do is extend my hand to them.

Yet God lets us have eternal life with him if we just take his hand even after we kill his prophets and his son. Why does God love us? How could he love us after what we did to his son? We were given this earth from God, and we don’t give any of it back to God. We find it hard to just give him 10 minutes of our day after he gave his only son.

Why do you take this gift for granted? Your sin caused Jesus to die and yet we all take this gift for granted every day of our lives. How could we do this to God? He shows us infinite grace, we repay him with infinite ungratefulness.

When are you going to start asking why? Why are you doing this to God? Why aren’t you sharing his message with others? Why are you taking his gift for granted?
Why? Because that is how much God loves you.

There is no answer to why God would love us, he has every reason not to. We could spend eternity dealing with this single thought and we would come to no conclusion.

Why?
