The Big Picture

Has your mom ever made you take pictures for the first day of school?

“Ok, stand over there so i can get a photo.”

“Uhhhhhhh… Mom? Do I really have to?”

“This is a special moment, you’ll want to remember it.”

Anyway, we all know how this goes, one more embarrassing photo added to the ever growing collection.

But when your mom takes that photo, she usually takes more than one.

Why?

Because her hands are shaking (for reasons that will always be unclear…)

We’ve all been there, “oh, that one’s not very good, just one more”

It’s usually more like twelve, but eventually they have to admit they got a good one, then we rush to make sure we’re not late to the first period.

Life can sometimes be like that picture, all fuzzy and unclear.

But here's the thing, we literally aren’t supposed to have it all figured out, and we’re not supposed to see everything.

“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. “ 1 Corinthians 13:12

Right now we will never know everything about our lives, no matter how hard we try.

We’ll never know why we ran into that person on the sidewalk, we’ll never know why that old lady smiled at us, we’ll never know why we thought it would be a good idea to let our younger siblings pick the movie…

That list could go on forever.

But that verse has a second part to it.

“...but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. “
But then we will know completely.

Isn’t it crazy that one day we WILL know everything?

But right now we don’t.

And we don’t have to.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11

We’ll never know why certain things happen to us, some good, and some bad.

But as long as we trust in His plan, it’ll all work out.

And one day we’ll be able to zoom out, and we’ll see the whole big beautiful picture.
