Fool's Gold

Published: October 30, 2026

In life we often chase after all the wrong things, pleasure, identity, status, and much more. We are out mining for what is reality fools’ gold. This is because we find that fool’s gold is much easier to obtain than real gold. We can do it our way; we can do it on our own.

Why would we work hard to get the real stuff when the fake gold does the same for us? We slowly get off track and break our morals.

God was there now he is gone, and we never thought he was were wrong. We don’t have much time before we are long gone. If we continue to chase after fools’ gold instead of the real gold where will this take us? Has fools’ gold taken hold of your life?

We try to ease our minds by flooding out and telling ourselves that this is real gold. We fool ourselves every day saying we and our pleasures are more important than God. Instead of reading the Bible for five minutes we scroll for two hours. Instead of praying we would rather watch a movie. Instead of worshipping God we play our music.

“Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.”

- Ecclesiastes 2:11

There is only one thing we should toil to achieve. We must glorify God. How do we glorify God? By following his will for our lives, by worshipping him in all we do, by obeying his commands, by sharing the gift with eternal life, there are many ways to prioritize Gold. Yet we often fail.
Why is this? Why do we keep prioritizing our own selfish agenda over God’s perfect plan for our lives.

God has good plans for you. They are not your selfish ideas though. God’s plans for you only become reality when you act. If you don’t want a part of it, he won’t force you.

Stop chasing after fool’s gold, stop letting your own selfish agenda get in the way of God’s good plans for your life.
