In Wonder and Awe
Published: June 28, 2026
God commands our respect.
Not directly - Jesus never said: "Fall on your knees when you see me or you are going to hell."
Not that it wouldn't be appropriate.
Rather, when we see how much God's done for us and how much He loves us, we should be moved to a sense of awe.
Awe is very similar to fear. It's the feeling when we realize how vast the ocean is, how high a mountain is when we look down at the valley, or even simply how small we are.
Awe invokes a sense of something BIGGER. Something you're designed to be apart of.
God's plan.
Everybody is a part of God's plan, in some way or another. THERE ARE NO ACCIDENTS. YOU ARE HERE, RIGHT NOW, BECAUSE GOD WANTED YOU.
And you should take heart in that.
Sometimes God's plan is so large, we can't seem to find our place in it, and that's OK. God knows where we belong - and more importantly - how to get us there.
Let's be real though, how on earth do we find our purpose?
We pray. We listen. We wait.
And in the meantime, we move.
"Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
Jeremiah 29:4-7 ESV
And here's another verse:
"The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps."
Proverbs 16:9 ESV
We plan our course. God chooses how we get there.
So go. Do. Plan. Build.
Start putting your life together and listen to the LORD throughout it.
Be ready to accept His direction, his discipline, and His re-direction.
Let Him have the final say. Because the path He chose for you leads directly into life abundantly.
